Another fun weekend!

Friday I took the day off from work so that I could go have lunch at school with Meikiina. She was so excited all week waiting for me to come have lunch with her. She told me more than once that she told everyone in school that I was coming to have lunch with her. Her teacher even told me by email that Meikiina is very excited. I was excited too. After lunch Brynlee and I got to go see her room and her desk. Her desk was so organized and neat! :-) It was so much fun!

Friday evening there was a ladies evening for my sister siblings at a sister's house. Meikiina is very hard to leave so she came with me and we stayed very late. We didn't get home til about 1:00 a.m. Meikiina did sleep in the next morning, but I know that does not make up for a late night. She so needs to get to bed at a decent time in the evening.

On Saturday we had to go grocery shopping and both girls were so good the whole time. We were in the store a long time! We got home just late enough that Brynlee missed her nap, and that ended up being not a good thing. It was such a beautiful day that I decided instead of putting her for a late nap we would go for a walk / bike ride. We have really nice walking paths that we use a lot. Usually I walk and the girls ride bike. At a certain point Brynlee decided she had ridden far enough and she stopped her bike and told me she wasn't going any further. I just kept walking down the path to see what she would do. She just wouldn't go. I had to stop and really work to get her to keep on going. Now Meikiina ~ she will bike for miles and miles without stopping, and has done that since she first got her first bike. I wonder how far she would go if I just let her go until she was ready to stop.

In the evening we went to see my sister Gina, and her new baby. I had been promising the girls we would go see their new cousin and that was when it worked this weekend. The evening ended up being pretty tough because both girls were tired from messed up sleep schedules. They were at each other all evening. :-( They both fell asleep in the car and got put straight into their beds to sleep the night through.

We hadn't had enough yet, so Sunday morning off we went to the fire station for the annual get together they have there for fire prevention month. I did wonder if I was crazy to go again. The girls were very good there again though, and we all had a very good time. We got to have snacks and got to see the whole fire station, which is recently remodeled. It is very nice. The girls got to pick out pumpkins and we got to see in a helicopter. I think the most exciting for the girls was that they got to ride in a fire engine with the sirens blaring and the lights flashing. They both enjoyed that.

Now we will have to see how we get through the week after such a busy fun weekend.

No more spunking

On Sunday late afternoon and evening we had company. Brynlee was especially spunky and cried a lot about nothing in particular. When the company was gone I was asking her why she was so spunky all evening. She didn't know, and I asked her, "Is it because you are three?" She said, "Yes, it's cuz I'm three. When I turn four I am not gonna spunk anymore. I promise you, I won't spunk when I'm four or when I'm five or when I'm six..."

Meikiina's Pumpkins

These are the pumpkins that Meikiina grew from her kindergarten pumpkin plant. She was so excited and proud of them.

Meikiina petting one of the horses from our fun Saturday

A Fun Saturday and a 3 Year Old...

Well, I am going to try to get this going again and keep it up at least a bit. Yesterday we went to the Sherburne National Wildlife refuge. We had a fun day, except I ended up with a sinus headache. I guess that's not too uncommon, but I wish I knew what to do to get rid of them. I know I could stay inside and stay away from bonfires and such like that, but gosh what fun would life be then?

Anyway - some of the events of the fun day... When we got there we had to walk a ways from the car to where the main events were taking place and there were bees buzzing all around. We had bug spray, but of course left it in the car. For some reason bees are always really attracted to Brynlee and she got stung. The poor thing. It scared me, because she's never been stung and I didn't know how she would react to it. Of course, she cried very hard, but had a 'normal' swelling. After a half hour or so, she happily told me, "Mom, the bee sting is all gone." And it had pretty much cleared up, so that was good.

Both girls loved the reptile area. They were both very fascinated with the turtles and both petted one of the snakes. I asked them if they want to pet the snake and they both wanted to, albeit a little cautiously. Of course, Mama couldn't as she had to take pictures of the exciting first time event. I guess it wasn't so surprising as they've always really liked frogs and toads and will often catch them and put them in a little cage for a while and then let them go.

I am sure the highlite of everyone's day was what we saved for last - the horse drawn hayride. We did have to wait in line for a while, but it was worth it. After the ride we went to pet the horses and Meikiina loved that. Brynlee would have nothing to do with that, but that was ok. Brynlee must have really enjoyed her day, because on the way home I heard her say, "Now I'm sooo boring."

When we got home she saw the neighbor girl playing outside and told me, "Look P is playing with her hula-poolup." And she was. She was just hula-pooluping away in the driveway.

When Brynlee was going to sleep tonight I put her 'Lord's Prayer' book by her so she could look at that while I was doing something else and I heard her say, "Oh, who put my Lord's Parade (or sounded kind of like 'prade') book here?" She is trying to use very big words now and I love to hear it. Her big words often come out comical. Keeps me smiling.

Tiring and wonderful weekend!

What a wonderful weekend! Friday evening after work the girls and I went for a walk. We love to walk. Now we've been taking the wagon and Meikiina often pulls it, either with or without Brynlee in it. They get tired out and sleep wonderfully. Saturday morning we also went for a walk. Then for Saturday evening we got a babysitter for the girls and went out to eat with the family. That was so much fun! I love to get together with my family and it always seems like it doesn't happen often enough. Today was a lovely day with the girls. We went for a walk again and ended up playing at the park, which of course they love to do. This afternoon was a tea party for the princesses. First Meikiina and I had a tea party and then Brynlee woke up and she joined Meikiina for the tea party. Then the sun came out again so we went out to play again for a bit on the driveway. We are outside people and are just loving that we are once again able to be outside!
