Six Months (and 9 days)

Wow!
How can it be, that already 6 months have sped by since you've been home,
My little man ~ my son?
How can it be!
I waited and waited for you, my whole life really I was waiting for you.
But even after I saw your handsome, adorable face -
I waited for a whole 'nother year to finally bring you home.
And now 6 months have passed.
How can it be?

What a precious gift you are!
You are the most happy, joyful little boy.
Oh, you have your moments, but don't we all!
Mostly, you just spread your joy to everyone who knows you.

One neighbor was talking on the driveway and I was saying once again
how much you make us laugh and giggle
and how much we just adore you and enjoy you so much.

She told me, "That's because you blessed him, by bringing him home
and now you're receiving that blessing back with the gift he is to you."

Willem ~ you have a heart of gold and such compassion.
You always apologize if you even think you might have done something wrong.
If someone even says, 'Ow!', we right away hear you saying,
"Oh, sowwy, Beebin! (or Meikiina, or Jia, or ...).
We are often telling you, "It's not your fault, Willem." To which you reply, "Oh, o.k.!"

You love to eat! Oh, how you love to eat.
Especially breakfast.
And you have been known to eat on more than one occasion,
4 eggs, 2 hashbrowns, and 5 or 6 sausages, plus your milk.
Yes, you love your food.

You're just the best and most willing little helper.
You love to help with everything ~
from sweeping the floor, to helping with laundry,
raking leaves, and even fixing mama's car.

You love your toys!
Oh, how you love your toys!
I've never seen a little one so thankful for his toys.
You often ask, "This Willem truck?"
And you're so happy when we tell you that yes it is your truck.

You love outside.
You love, love, love outside.

You love your family.
You often give us hugs and kisses and cuddles.
You never go to sleep a night without giving each one of us a hug and kiss.
If someone should happen to fall asleep
before you've gotten to wish them a good night, you are so sad!

You love when I lay down next to you when you're falling asleep.
You often turn on your side right before you fall asleep
and give me the most radiant smile and maybe a pat on my cheek,
and then you close your eyes.
Tonight after our books I asked you if you want me to lay down next to you
and you told me, "Yes, pease, Mama!"

My son, my little man ~
How can it be six months already.
What did we do before you were here!
I love you so much
So much it makes my heart ache.
I can't imagine life without you!
We have been blessed beyond words.
What a precious gift you are!
My Little Man, My Son.
